Matt is a D’Addario, Selmer and formerly Vandoren endorsed artist and continues to travel the world playing and lecturing and has a long list of players, bands, festivals and orchestras he has worked with.
He is also full time at WAAPA as Head of cross genre studies on Saxophone. Matt Styles has built a local and international career as a classical, jazz and ‘cross-over’ saxophonist, performing and teaching in the UK, Europe, Asia and Australia. With more than 25 years teaching at primary, secondary and tertiary levels, Matt specializes in the interpretation, pedagogy and performance of classical, jazz and multi-genre or ‘cross-over’ works.
In 2004 Matt received a Churchill Fellowship focusing on jazz and classical performance studies. In 2008 he completed his Doctorate of Musical Arts at UWA and has been playing, lecturing and researching since. Matt has just returned from performing at the 2019 Asia Saxophone Congress.
Simon starting playing gigs and teaching nearly 40 years ago and has worked with such artists as Billy Cobham, Dave Weckl, Manhatten Transfer, Spandeau Ballet, Ray Charles, Lee Konitz, Doug Parkinson, James Morrison, Ricky May, Jack Jones, John Ethridge, Hugh Jackman, Bob Bertles, John Hoffman, James Morrison and Don Burrows.
He has been endorsed by Top Sax USA and has played in over 20 National touring theatre productions, was a member of the founding WAYJO big band, a finalist in the national Wangaratta Jazz Sax competition as well as being the Lead Alto in Perth Jazz Orchestra, Libby Hammer’s Hypmotoast and is co leader of long running funk band – Manteca.
