The Music of Cannonball Adderley with Carl Mackey & the Mat Jodrell Sextet (MEL)

Saturday 24 March 7.00pm

Tonight, saxophonist Carl Mackey and trumpeter Mat Jodrell return from Melbourne for a special appearance. One of the country’s most dynamic frontlines, Mackey and Jodrell share a rare connectivity after sharing the stage for over 20 years.

Joining forces with long time comrades and musical heavyweights, Jamie Oehlers, Tom O’Halloran, Pete Jeavons and Daniel Susnjar, they will tear the walls down at The Ellington performing works written and performed by the one and only Cannonball Adderley.

Alto saxophonist Julian ‘Cannonball’ Adderley is one of the giants of Jazz. His music, infused with a natural lyricism, grooves hard and oozes soul. This music is explosive, funky and infectious.

You will not want to miss this one!

Mat Jodrell – trumpet
Carl Mackey – alto saxophone
Jamie Oehlers – tenor saxophone
Tom O’Halloran – piano
Pete Jeavons – bass
Daniel Susnjar – drums
