The Illegals

Thursday 11 January 7.00pm

Deriving their name in support of refugees in need, The illegals are a six piece Rock and Blues Perth Hills based outfit formed in July 2016. Later that month The illegals were winners of the Blues Challenge heat and runner up in the International Blues Challenge competition held at the renowned Bridgetown Blues Festival, November 2016. They have been playing gigs around Perth City and the hills ever since and represented the Hills Blues Club at this year’s 25th Anniversary of Bridgetown Blues.

With a Blues, Country and Jazz flavour, singer Kyra Bee astounds audiences with her powerful vocal prowess. She joins rhythm guitarist Melanie Dius, who has studied Jazz for 8 years and played in the Perth Hills Jazz Orchestra, even supporting The Black Sorrows in Perth. Gerald Ball’s smooth electrifying guitar licks complement the eclectic genres The illegals are known for. Alan (Grooves) Groves who only recently joined the illegals, adds the extra pizazz tinkling the ivories. Jason Maxlow (bass guitar) and Bart Hayes (drums) form the tight rhythm section synonymous with The illegals and their second band – Two Dollar Dog.

With covers from Etta James, Amy Winehouse, Muddy Waters, Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B King, J.J. Cale, Beth Hart and Nat King Cole, plus some bluesy originals, you will be taken on an up-beat, soulful and mesmerising journey.
