The Ellington 11th Birthday: Libby Hammer & Ali Bodycoat

Tuesday 03 March 7.00pm

Come join us to celebrate our 11th birthday with the wondrous Libby Hammer and Ali Bodycoat!
For over twenty years Perth Grand Dames Ali Bodycoat and Libby Hammer have been gracing Australian stages and refining the craft of their jazz singing. They each boast a respected position in the local jazz world, and as soloists, they hold their own with the world’s best. Tonight, these ‘two glorious local hummingbirds’ join forces to meld together not only their impressive jazz voices, but the repertoire of the Golden Age of American song. Performing some of the greatest standards ever written, these two elegant, hip women interweave lyrics and harmonies into exquisite, dramatic medleys and mashups that celebrate Tin Pan Alley composers such as Gershwin, Porter, Kern, Mercer and Cy Coleman. A night of glamour, playful chemistry and gorgeous voices.
‘Entertaining and sophisticated, clever arrangements… all the fun, humour, and sensitivity, but without the big hype. I wouldn’t miss an opportunity to see the superbly polished act of Ali Bodycoat and Libby Hammer.’
- Mae Anthony
