Swingin’ at the Ellington!

Start your Christmas celebrations at the Ellington, with Swingin’ at the Savoy!
Following on their sell-out performance earlier in the year, the band will be bringing you infectious music from the 1920’s-1940’s from the likes of Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller and many other greats, along with their own original compositions, which they have been busy recording in the studio.
The individual band members have a great deal of experience in playing many styles of jazz and are well sought-after musicians, both in Western Australia and overseas.
Randa Khamis – Lead vocal
Randa is an internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter who has released two singles and two albums worldwide on London label, Freestyle Records. Her music has been licensed to US television show, Skins and she is at times invited interstate and overseas to perform, including shows extensively across the UK, Spain and France.
Sid Hennessy-Double bass/vocals
Sid has studied under the renowned double-bassist, Geoff Chalmers and has performed extensively in the UK, Japan and around Australia. He is also a singer and songwriter, playing to audiences of up to 11,000 people. Sid also plays double-bass in the gypsy jazz outfit, Voudou Zazou; Jamaican ska/calypso band, The Isolites and blues band, Dr. Charlie.
Barnabas has been captivating audiences his whole life. He studied jazz at WAAPA and has played in a number of bands of various genres. He has three years’ experience playing in the iconic Corner House Jazz Band in Perth and has played abroad in Europe and Asia.
Mark Wearing – Woodwinds/vocals
Mark [AKA Mr.E.Mann] is a jack of all trades, with a penchant for woodwinds (saxophone/clarinet/ xaphoon) and keys (piano/accordion/melodica/
Chris Dombrose (ex WAAPA) is a multi-instrumentalist and singer. A versatile musician, he is equally comfortable playing guitar, piano, bass, accordion or Greek bouzouki and has performed in a wide variety of styles.
Jack is the newest member of the Swingin’ at the Savoy family. He has studied jazz at WAAPA and will be joining the band with his high-speed virtuosity on acoustic and electric guitars.
