Spirituals, Folk Songs and some Jazz with Allira Wilson and Lucky Oceans
Friday 13 October 7.00pm
Gospel, Blues, Spirituals, Folk songs and some jazz all come together for a night of melodies you know and rhythms to tap along to. Join Lucky Oceans and Allira Wilson for a night of inspired music ranging from the spiritual to the secular.
Artists like Ray Charles, Mahalia Jackson, Duke Ellington and even John Scofield have brought together elements of gospel music and Jazz. The sounds of spirituals have influenced some of the most famous Jazz compositions like “Summertime” and “It Ain’t necessary so”.
