Simone Craddock (London)
Tuesday 16 April 7.00pm
Australian-born Londoner, Simone Craddock, has made a splash on the British jazz scene with her unique song stylings and irrepressible sense of humour. From Ronnie Scotts in Soho to leading roles in the West End, (Dirty Dancing, Jesus Christ Superstar, Hello Dolly), Simone’s dual passion for Jazz and Theatre has taken her across the UK, Europe, Asia and The States, for the last twenty years.
For the first time, Simone returns to her hometown to share songs and stories from her varied career, originals, and music to inspire and elevate, in what will be her long-anticipated Perth debut!
Simone trained at W.A.A.P.A and honed her craft in London, collaborating with The West End Gospel Choir and band members of Amy Winehouse, Maynard Ferguson, Tom Jones, Jason Mraz and Adele. Her music is a fusion of these contemporary influences and her own straight-ahead jazz roots, burgeoned during a Summer spent singing in New Orleans, and inspired by the sounds of Nancy Wilson, Ray Charles, Nina Simone and Kurt Elling.
Last year, Simone released her first swinging original, “It’s No Big Deal”, to critical acclaim. Hot on it’s heels came her second single, “When I Get Home It’s Christmas”, which harks back to the country roots of her childhood.
Tonight she joins forces with multi-award winning composer and pianist, Harry Mitchell, and jazz luminaries, Pete Jeavons on double bass and Mike Perkins on drums, for what promises to be a very special evening of uplifting music and jolly good fun!
