Reece Clark & Friends: Live at King Street Album Launch
Monday 09 March 7.00pm
Reece Clark & Friends is a miniature big band most well known for their quirky and often dynamically hefty arrangements of well known pop and jazz standards. With a love for classic pop lyrics, modern harmonies and heavy swing feels, the band is constantly swapping between timeless arrangements of beloved jazz standards and funky fresh arrangements of timeless pop classics. As is probably evident, the album is a live recording of the band’s last public gig as part of WAYJO’s highly successful King Street Corner Pocket Festival last July. Audiences can expect a live performance of the 6 track debut album of music composed and arranged by Perth-based multi-instrumentalist and front man Reece Clark as well a set of all new music for your listening pleasure. The band draws inspiration from an eclectic mix of artists not often heard in the same sentence – from the timeless Ellington and Basie big bands to modern pioneers Jamie Cullum and Jacob Collier to the hilarious and witty Flight of the Conchords and local boy Tim Minchin.
Each tune showcases a different aspect of the band, from their killer musicianship to their ability to sing in 9-part harmony, it’s sure to be an amazing night with music and banter to please all ears.
