Focus on Jazz Piano at The Ellington will showcase Perth’s best jazz pianists as part of the Perth International Jazz Festival. Focus on Jazz Piano at The Ellington is dedicated to the memory of the late Graham Wood, founder of The Ellington and Perth International Jazz Festival.
Tonight’s show features Hanna Kim, Tristan Wills, Brodie Stewart, and Russell Holmes.
Hanna Kim is pianist from South Korea. She started learning piano at the young age of 6 and since then it has played a major role in her life. Due to her interest in music, she enrolled in Seoul Art College to study a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Piano Performance, which she graduated from in 2009. Since her graduation, she had been a regular participant in music performances around Korea until the year 2014, which is when she decided to move to Perth. Since her arrival in Perth, she has not shown any signs of slowing down and she has performed in a number of jazz gigs and festivals. In this performance, Hanna hopes the audience will be able to experience a beautiful and warm performance integrating jazz and crossover, with varied musical elements weaved within to represent her diverse cultural background.
