Oliver Rundin - WAAPA Jazz Recital

Monday 20 November 9.00pm

A hailstorm of darkness descends upon the Ellington on Monday 20th November at 9:00pm as we see Perth drummer Oliver Rundin perform a ritualistic set of barbaric original jazz compositions and a small number of hectic, chaotic arrangements of “jazz normals” for your listening displeasure.

Over the last four years at WAAPA Oliver has studied the cult rhythms of the jazz language under guidance from Ben Vanderwal, Daniel Susnjar, Chris Tarr and Andrew Gander. Performing and touring various styles of underground “punk” music for the past 12 years this recital will contain none of that, instead it will be showcasing his keen obsession of the tradition of jazz drumming, the cowbell and non-functional harmony.

Joining him for this ritual will be:

Jacob Mitchell – Guitar

Alana Macpherson – Alto Saxophone

Alistair Peel – Double bass

Austin Salisbury – Piano

Oliver Rundin – Drums

Plus a couple of special guests…

Tickets can be purchased in the following way:

$5 at the bar (standing) per recital – Book Bar General Admin

$10 at the table (seated) per recital – Book Table General Admin

Tickets for the entire night will also be available

$20 at the bar (standing) for the entire night  – Book Bar Jazz Standard/Student

$25 at the table (seated) for the entire night – Book Table Jazz Standard/Student

If a show is not sold out, then patrons are welcome to stay for the following recital without purchasing another bar ticket, however the tables will always turn over after each recital (unless you have purchased a ticket for the entire night, then you can retain the same table all night).
