MAJOR SWING PROJECT presents 'MADE YA SWING'
Wednesday 10 March 7.00pm
A stylish gypsy folk wonder, dynamic and provocative, forming during the lockdown period in 2020 and quickly establishing a high reputation amongst the Perth and WA music scene, having toured and performed 40 shows in our West’s best.
The Major Swing Project is proud to finally bring their favourite jazz and folk melodies to the renowned Ellington Jazz Club on March 10th 2021. Prepare yourself for a journey around the world with familiar tunes and original sounds that are heavily inspired by the Hot Club of France from the 1930s, timeless chanson by the late and great Edith Piaf and modern songs with a Gypsy twist.
The Major Swing Project explores a modern variant of the 1930’s Manouche inspired gypsy sound, with the music being heavily influenced by Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club of France. Weaving their own independent sound around folk influences and tinkering into a swing flavour with their very own original repertoire. Essentially the music becomes a sculpture . . .
Major Swing consists of a varied ensemble of accomplished musicians in their own right including the line up of vocals (sung in 7 different languages), gypsy guitar, piano accordion, mandolin and saxophone with additions of drums, and upright bass with the full line up.
An international melange of credited musicians with an extensive past experience and high rapport amongst the music network in and outside of Australia, having toured Internationally for over a decade. 4 of the members being from Israel, France, Poland and Germany, bringing the influences from all over the world…
LINE UP FOR THIS HOT NIGHT WILL INCLUDE:
NIkki Dagostino – piano accordion
Catrin Enderlien – mandolin and vocals
Benjamin Newton – gypsy guitar
Pawel Kuterba – gypsy guitar
Sammy Lemon – drums
This stylish ensemble of musicians is guaranteed to make you swing!
