Lucy Iffla sings Ella Fitzgerald
Saturday 20 March 7.00pm
Lucy Sings Ella… again! Really again you say!? Yes again, because Lucy is obsessed and after a SOLD OUT show at the Ellington last December, Lucy is bringing Ella’s iconic sultry ballads and upbeat swing tunes back! Come and join us this April to pay tribute to the Queen of Jazz!
Lucy (21), is an up and coming Jazz Vocalist, currently completing her final year of Jazz studies at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Playing alongside some incredible established musicians and WAAPA lecturers, including the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra, Lucy has developed her sound and showcases an elegant and timeless voice beyond her years.
Lucy’s passion for Jazz started when she discovered an Ella and Basie vinyl in her Grandma’s shed. This love grew and with the help of some wonderful musicians, Lucy’s dream of performing yet another Ella tribute show will come true! Making this dream possible is a powerhouse line-up with Ricki Malet (Trumpet), Daniel Sunsjr (Drums), Brodie Stewart (Piano) and Alistair Peel (Bass).
Lucy will take you through the musical journey of Ella starting from her early classics through to her final crooners. As Ella famously said, “The only thing better than singing is more singing”.
