Libby Hammer Quintet Christmas Show

Thursday 22 December 7.00pm

Are you sick of hearing the relentless jangling of crappy Christmas tunes 24/7? Do you wince when you see green and red worn together? Are you jaded with western society’s rampant consumerism and the capitalistic commercialisation that makes you feel all Grinchy for not wanting to ruin the planet with a fibre-optic Christmas tree, a cheap cardboard advent calendar and an ugly reindeer sweater?

If you regard the festive season as a special kind of hell, then you could do worse than to come to the Ellington for one of Libby Hammer’s Christmas concerts. It’s the perfect antidote to anyone feeling like 2022 has made their heart two sizes too small. It’s a swig of pinwheel red and white peppermint antacid for the indigestive soul. It’s irreverent but never blasphemous, uplifting and profound, and it hits a delightful balance of holiday selfishness and also selflessness. It’s a heart-embiggening evening of fun, humbuggy Yuletide jazz and laughter.

Come along and see why so many of Perth’s jazz lovers make Christmas at the Ellington their one must-do annual Christmas event. As always, Libby will be joined on stage by Alistair McEvoy on saxophones, Chris Foster on piano, Nick Abbey on bass, Michael Perkins on drums, and a very special jolly guest may drop in for his yearly visit and mistletoe-kiss from Libby. Table tickets disappear like a bowlful of jelly, so secure yours early.
