Kate Pass Kohesia Ensemble – Debut Album Launch
Thursday 14 June 7.00pm
Kate Pass Kohesia Ensemble are excited to launch their debut album “Kohesia”.
Led by double bassist Kate Pass, the Kohesia Ensemble serves as a platform for Kate’s original compositions, which are influenced by her passion for both jazz and Persian music. Formed in 2016, this World Music ensemble explores unusual time structures and microtonal melodies, combining the sounds of Persian flute (ney), percussion (daf) and oud with jazz instruments for a truly unique listening experience. Since forming, the ensemble has gone from strength to strength, receiving nominations for two WAM Song of the Year Awards (2017) for both the Jazz and World Music categories, and a Music Award at Fringe World Festival (2017).
Kate has completed several tours nationally and internationally, performing at an array of festivals and events in Asia, the USA and Europe with highlights including performing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Ghent Festival in Belgium, WOMADelaide, Singapore International Jazz Festival, Penang Jazz Festival, Bergmannstrasse Festival in Germany and Perth International Jazz Festival.
Albums will be available for purchase at the performance.
