Etta D'Elia - Buona Sera Signorina
Tuesday 04 October 7.00pm
In a humorous melange of Italian music and jazz, Italian-born vocalist Etta D’Elia and her 4-piece band will lead you by your clapping hands through a night of Italian music, culture, and good times. “This is a show where I explain a lot of curiosities and things about Italian culture through our songs,” Etta says, promising a Guided Tour of lesser-known treasures (Ornella Vanoni, Lucio Dalla, Paolo Conte) as well as revisiting universally-loved songs by Dean Martin, Louis Prima, Ennio Morricone, Domenico Modugno and more.
Park your Vespas outside the Ellington Jazz Club, summon an Espresso Martini, and enjoy a night of La Dolce Vita. With songs such as That’s Amore, Mambo Italiano, and Volare to Buona Sera Signorina, you’ll walk in a dream but know you’re not dreaming…signore!

An accomplished jazz vocalist with a unique talent for song interpretation, Etta D’Elia has made an indelible impression here in Perth during the decade since she moved here from her native Italy. By the age of six, Etta was taking piano lessons, a dedication to a craft that was complemented by her enrolment at The Conservatorio to learn classical voice followed by a Master’s Degree in Music Education. Etta was honored to sing on two occasions at the Vatican in Rome, both being broadcast live on primetime RAI1 Television. In 2004, she sang for Pope John Paul II and in 2005, she performed for the show “Notte di Luce” in the presence of Pope Benedict XVI. Her academic focus had been strictly classical but encouraged by a lecturer to branch out musically Etta discovered a love for jazz and was soon performing with Italian pianist Gianni Lenoci and his jazz quartet, featuring the French double-bass player, Joelle Leandre. It was the first page of a musical love letter. A truer calling…In 2012, Etta relocated to Perth and was soon involved with the local music scene, singing in a variety of corporate events, festivals, ceremonies, and live concerts such as the Italian National Ball at Pan Pacific, ANZAC dawn service 2015, 2016, and 2018 for the City of Wanneroo, Italian Wine and Food Festival at Perth Town Hall, Mission Australia Christmas Lunch 2015, Lavazza Film Festival, and Fringe World Festival. In 2014 at the Perth Concert Hall Etta performed solo for the “Carmina Burana” by Carl Orff. In 2018, she performed live for Telethon on Channel 9. Etta has pursued jazz performances all around WA in duos, trios, and quartets at venues such as The Crown, Pan Pacific, Ritz Carlton, Duke Of George, Habitue, The Volstead Lounge, Velour Lounge, Kalamunda Jazz Club, Guildford Jazz Club, and more.
