Ellie Korn feat. TRISK
Wednesday 27 April 7.00pm
At just 17, Ellie Korn has been described as one of Perth’s most exciting up-and-coming jazz vocalists. Although Ellie has performed on the Ellington stage numerous times, tonight she will be taking the stage for her very first solo show.
Last year, she was selected to perform at His Majesty’s Theatre as part of the 2015 Performing Arts Perspectives, as well as singing backing vocals alongside Victoria Newton for Penny King’s Joni Mitchell Tribute at the Perth International Jazz Festival.
This year she is continuing her musical journey at WAAPA studying a Bachelor of Music (Jazz) and singing in WAYJO, Australia’s leading youth jazz orchestra.
Ellie draws inspiration from a wide range of musical influences, including many of the greats such as Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Sarah Vaughan, as well as contemporary jazz artists Kristin Berardi, Sarah McKenzie, Vince Jones and Kurt Elling.
Tonight, Ellie will be collaborating with WAM award-winning trio TRISK, performing her own arrangements of her favourite jazz standards from the 1920s to 1950s, along with contemporary classics and originals. TRISK comprises Chris Foster on Piano, Nick Abbey on Bass, and Danny Susnjar on Drums, all of whom have become integral fixtures of the jazz and contemporary music scenes in WA, featuring regularly at many of Perth’s popular live music venues.
Join Ellie as she takes you through an evening of stories of love, and gets your toes tapping to the swinging sounds of jazz.
