Dirty Jazz with Jessie Gordon
Saturday 11 August 10.30pm
Sultry, flame-haired Jessie, along with live musical accompaniment, will introduce you to the seedy underbelly of the pop music of the 1930s and 40s, exploring the wonderfully dirty lyrics and double meanings hidden in this classic genre.
Be prepared for a saucy, smutty, stripping back of the Golden Era of Swing, replete with illegal libations, dark corner adultery, illicit drugs and more food references than you’ll know what to do with.
There are songs for the swooning moonshiners, those inclined to wine, those frisky for whisky and some odes to our favourite friends, those tenders of the bar. In the dark, dingy corners and smokey recesses of your favourite bar, there are songs for all your favourite drinks, there is room for all your dirty deeds and time for you to unwind with a refined beverage. The team at the Ellington are putting together a specially crafted drink for the evening to match the theme, ask for a Filthy Gordon when you arrive!
Tables will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
