Carus Thompson

Wednesday 18 July 7.00pm

Globe trotting troubadour Carus Thompson has done it the hard way. Independent, self-managed and funded he’s toured the world alongside The John Butler Trio, The Waifs, Xavier Rudd, Jack Johnson & Pete Murray, selling over 30,000 albums along the way.

He’s won his loyal fan base through 20 years of hitting the road, one punter, one gig, one tour at a time, always delivering passionate, energetic, folk-rocking shows that entertain and engage.

And with his latest album ISLAND, he’s getting plaudits too, with his song “Lies” winning a WAM Song of The Year in the Blues & Roots Category & one of the most played songs on Double J radio last year. “Beach Fires”, also from the album was a finalist in the highly respected International Song Writing Competition.

FORTE magazine called ISLAND “a wonderful return from Australia’s answer to Bruce Springsteen” and like the boss, live is where Carus does his thing the best.

He loves a small intimate venue where he can get up close and build an energy with the crowd. There’s no better venue for that than the Ellington.

Playing two sets, this’ll be a very special, acoustic, singer-songwriter show.

“This is quality Songwriting” – Jeff Jenkins, Living in the Land of OZ

“A treasure in the Australian musical landscape” – The Dwarf
